About the creator
Sebastián, also known as Basti, is the creator of Koco Ceramics, a small business built on creativity and expression. He is a 16-year-old potter from Guatemala who loves sharing his artistic ideas through clay.
Inspired by his artistic mother and creative father, Sebastián has been interested in art since he was very young. Over time, he explored new abilities, as it became clear that creating and using his creativity gave him a deep sense of fulfillment and joy.
In 2023, he began working with clay—first by making pieces by hand—and later, he learned how to use the pottery wheel. Today, his collections include both wheel-thrown and handmade pieces.
Sebastián has a strong connection to nature, which often serves as a source of inspiration in his work and collections. He also tries to express emotions through shapes, colors, and textures. Through Koco Ceramics, he wants to change the common idea of pottery being only utilitarian, and instead show how it can also be a way to express feelings and ideas through art.
Not all of his pieces are made to be used; some are created to decorate a space, as an artistic piece, or to reflect the themes explored in each collection. What they will always have in common is the dedication, love poured into the creation process, and the desire to make others feel something through them.
